The Ilfracombe Academy welcomed the Band of the RAF Regiment to the school on Wednesday 20th January to perform for students in Year 7 and music students in Key Stage 4 and 5. We were also joined by music students from Braunton Academy and West Buckland School.
The visit was part of the RAF School Liaison Concerts which are intended to entertain rather than educate the pupils and to demonstrate, through music, what can be achieved with dedication, study and team work as well as impressing upon them that the Royal Air Force has more careers available than Pilots and Engineers.
To this end the concert included a wide variety of music from Count Basie and Glen Miller to pieces from film and television. The highlight for many was a performance of ‘Let it Go’ from the popular Disney film ‘Frozen’ which saw every student on their feet singing along.
The whole concert was a fun and entertaining event which excited and enthused our students and staff.
Our thanks go to the RAF Music Services for giving us this wonderful opportunity.
