Letter from the Headteacher | School's Out For Summer

Dear Parents and Carers,

As we come to the culmination of another extremely busy year we can look back and reflect on the many things that we have all achieved. I am once again so incredibly proud of all the hard work and dedication our students and staff have shown this year. They have coped admirably well with some pretty challenging periods of the year that were impacted by Covid disruptions. I am proud of the work we have completed and progress we have made over this year and I am extremely optimistic about our journey ahead.

We are especially proud of our Year 11 and 13 students that have navigated a challenging year and we look forward to seeing them on the two forthcoming results days:

  • A-Level Results – August 18th 2022

  • GCSE Results – August 25th 2022

There has been a huge amount of positive curricular and extra-curricular activities across the year and the summer term itself and I ask parents and carers to view all of those in the summer edition of The Ilfracombe Academy Gazette.

I would like to thank all our staff for their hard work across the year and for the many messages of support that we have received from parents and carers. It is very much appreciated.

September Return

We will be following a staggered return to school again in September. This is to ensure that we are able to welcome our students gradually back to school. We feel it is essential that the Year 7s have a really good induction to school which is why they will be starting on a day where the only other year groups in school will be the 6th Form. We can confirm that we will be following a staggered return as follows:

  • Friday September 2nd - Year 7, 12 and 13 start

  • Monday September 5th – Year 10 & 11 start

  • Tuesday September 6th – Year 8 & 9 start

On behalf of all the staff at The Ilfracombe Academy, we would like to thank all the messages of support from our students parents and carers across the academic year. We really appreciate your support and we look forward to seeing more of you across the next academic year at school performances, celebration events, parents’ evenings and parent forum meetings. We hope all our students, parents and carers have a wonderful summer holiday with your family and friends.

Yours Sincerely

Steve Rogers
