Important Update On Face Coverings in School

Dear Parents and Carers

I am sure that you have all seen the announcement regarding the wearing of face coverings in classrooms. Please see below for the DFE guidance released today.

'From tomorrow, Thursday 20th January, face coverings are no longer recommended in classrooms and teaching spaces for staff, and for students in year 7 and above. They were introduced in classrooms at the start of the spring term as a temporary measure.’

As I’m sure you are aware, we are handling significant staff absence currently and like many schools across the country, may at some point, have to make the difficult decision to send some year groups home to complete learning remotely. Therefore, we strongly recommend that you encourage your child to continue to wear their face covering in lessons.

May we remind parents that it is still mandatory to wear face coverings in communal areas (such as corridors and St Christopher’s Hall) until 27th January as stated in today’s announcement.

As always, we will continue to monitor the situation regarding case numbers and will communicate any safety changes that need to be made to parents and carers.

Kind regards

Steve Rogers
