Important Update for Year 8 Parents

Dear Parents & Carers, Today has been incredibly challenging in terms of staff cover and these difficulties are set to remain for this week. Therefore we have taken the difficult decision that we will need to send Year 8 home to work remotely from Wednesday 2nd to Friday 4th February. This is due to levels of staff absence. We currently have 13 teachers and 7 support staff absent from school as they are having to self-isolate or because they are absent for other reasons. The Year 8 cohort themselves have 14 positive cases. We realise that this is a huge inconvenience to Year 8 and their parents. We wanted to communicate this to you this evening so that you will have some time to arrange childcare for Wednesday to Friday.

The Year 8s will still be expected to attend school as normal tomorrow (Tuesday 1st February). This will give our staff the opportunity to ensure the students know how to access live lessons and for some students to be issued laptops if they need one.

The Year 8 pastoral Team will contact parents/carers if their child is listed as vulnerable as they will still be able to attend school on those days.

We offer our sincere apologies for the disruption but it is our only realistic option at this stage due to our staffing.

Further details will be communicated to you tomorrow.

Regards
