Dear Parents and Carers,
Retirement August 2020
I am writing to let you know that I will be retiring at the end of this academic year and that the school will shortly be going out to advert for a new Headteacher. My reason for giving such a long period of notice to the Directors is so that the school has plenty of time to firstly appoint a successor at a time when recruitment can be challenging, and secondly so that there can be a well-planned handover of responsibilities.
It has been a real privilege to work with such a committed team of staff, students who are enthusiastic and positive, and to have support from parents and so many areas of our wider community.
We have all made a very positive start to term. Year 7 have made a great start in their new school and the other year groups have had a very purposeful and business-like first few days. You may have seen in the press that we were really delighted with our summer results which showed significant progress at A Level and some of the best progress we have seen at GCSE too.
We have exciting plans in place for this year too and I look forward to working with everyone for one final year at The Ilfracombe Academy.
