A-Level Results Day

Staff at The Ilfracombe Academy are delighted with the excellent results received by our Year 13 students today. We know how hard things have been for them after two national lockdowns and two further periods of self-isolation where students had to access their education remotely.

The school can report that the students achieved a pass rate of 98% which is in line with last year. The proportion of A level students who achieved A* and A grades was 38% with the pass rate at A*-B being 59%. For the 35 students who received BTEC and Cambridge Tech results 67% were graded at either Distinction or Distinction*. All students receiving these results passed their course.

There were a number of students who achieved exceptional results. Among these were many students who achieved three or more top grades (A* and A). Below is a list of just a few of the students who achieved this feat:

Finley Ball

Kieran Currie-Cathey

Mawgan Dagley

Tom Davies

Ryan Holden

Jamie Newell

Roker Ozelton

Joanna Pullen

Jasmin Smallridge

Overall 85% of students applying to university have got into their first choice. One or two students had already opted to take a gap year or are applying through clearing to other courses and we expect all students to have secured their place by the end of the week.

These results are a testament to the hard work, dedication and resilience shown by our students and their teachers over the last two years.

We wish all of our students our heartfelt best wishes for the future as they step forward to university, an apprenticeship or employment.

Good Luck!

Steve Rogers
