16 to 19 Tuition Fund (ESFA) Statement
The Ilfracombe Academy is delighted to have been awarded some funding from the ESFA (Education and Skills Funding Agency) 16 to 19 tuition fund. This money is ringfenced to support small group tuition for students aged between 16 to 19 who studying English, Maths or other courses where learning has been disrupted.
The funding guidance states that all this money should be spent on:
- Students who did not obtain a grade 4 in English and/or Maths at GCSE
- Students aged between 16 and 19 who are on a 16 to 19 study programme
- Students being provided with Tuition in small groups of no more than 5 students.
The Ilfracombe Academy will be allocating the entirety of this funding to support additional, small group extraction and tuition for targeted students in year 12 and 13 who failed to achieve a grade 4 in their GCSE English or Maths last year. The small group tuition of up to five students, will focus solely on the subjects of English and Maths and supporting students with their GCSE resits in the wake of the disruption they faced last year. We would like to stress that the funding will only be allocated towards additional small group tuition, above and beyond the normal timetabled support students receive.
