Aim of the subject

The key aim of the Business curriculum is to develop an understanding of the business environment; and use skills in learning related to the world of business.

Courses/subjects on offer

Courses offered are the KS4 Cambridge National Business Certificate (L1 & L2)

Styles of teaching

These include the delivery of knowledge and understanding of course content; and facilitating the unit course work study by students.

Progression routes

Progression routes are from KS4 to Level 3 and apprenticeships

Key Stage 4

There are 3 units covering an introduction to business, planning for work; and planning and running an enterprise.

Skills include literacy and numeracy and working effectively as individuals and with others.

Unit 1 is assessed by a 1 hour exam, Unit 2 by a controlled course work assignment, Unit 3 by a team and individual course work assignment. Units are graded on a Pass, Merit, Distinction, scale.

The awarding body is OCR; the specification is Cambridge National Business, Levels 1 and 2.
